IEEE Bangladesh Section (IEEE BDS) and IEEE Women in Engineering Affinity Group IEEE Bangladesh Section (WIE AG BDS) along with Uttara University Student Branch in collaboration with “Robotics Club EEE and CSE” successfully organized a seminar on "Control of Networked Multi-Robot Systems" on 18th November 2019, at Uttara University. Around 30 people attended the event, two thirds of which were students.
The event began with a welcome speechby Dr. Shakowat Zaman Sarker, Associate Professor and Chairman, Department Of EEE. This was followed by inspirational remarks from Prof. Dr. Mijanur Rahaman, Professor and Chairman, Department of CSE, who highlighted the importance of modern robotics and artificial intelligence in the context of Bangladesh and the significance of this kind of seminars.
The seminar was then conducted by the keynote speaker, Dr. Lamia Iftekhar, Associate Professor, Department of ECE, North South University and, Vice Chair (Technical) of Women In Engineering Affinity Group, IEEE Bangladesh Section. The talk started on familiar grounds of robotics which the students are usually exposed to and quickly brought in concepts of networks and systems. The audience were introduced to fundamentals of multirobot systems and cooperative control with real-life examples as well IEEE resources for further exploration on the topic.
After the talk, a Q&A session and a quiz competition was organized. The student body participated heartily and several new questions had to be designed on spot to break up ties in the competition. Different types of robotics kit, modules and books were distributed as awards among nine participants who got highest marks in the quiz competition.
The end of the event was initiated by Md. Kamruzzaman, Branch Counselor of IEEE UU SB and Assistant Professor, EEE. Mr. Kamruzzaman shared his opinion on the seminar and upcoming events & plans of IEEE UU Student Branch.
Finally, Prof. Dr. Kazi Khairul Islam, Dean, School of Science and Engineering, made valuable concluding remarks and thanked the guest and hosts of the event and all the participants for attending the seminar.
