Workshop on “Web Design” ORGANIZED BY IEEE EWU Student Branch and WIE AG, IEEE BDS

On 24th March 2018, IEEE EWU Student Branch organized a workshop on “Web Design”. It was a 3 hour long workshop that took place in the ICS practice lab room no. 529 of East West University. The workshop was conducted by Nafisa Zarrin Tasnim, Assistant Engineer, Energypac Engineering Ltd, professional activities co-ordinator, WIE,IEEE BDS and Syeda Iffat Naz ,Assistant engineer, Energypac Engineering Ltd, webmaster, WIE, IEEE BDS.

A total of 45 students participated in the workshop where they have learnt about the basics of Web designing. The number of IEEE and non-IEEE member in the workshop was 20 and 25 respectively and participation of female in the workshop was above 35%.

At first, the conductors briefed us about the software Weebly. In the first half, Ms. Nafisa Zarrin Tasnim instructed the students how to sign up for new individual on Weebly and Ms. Syeda Iffat Naz assisted her by helping participants if they faced any problem. After signing up students got a form and new portfolio. Then students pressed the ‘create new website’ and got a new page. In the new page there were an option named ‘about me’ at the left corner of the page. After that students were able to add image or text, to do so they just had to drop the icon in the window where they want to add that. Then the students add some pages like education, work, gallery, and contact etc, some sub pages were also added to these pages. To add sub pages the students had to turn the icon right from the place. In the second half, they changed their role. Ms. Syeda Iffat Naz helped the students to add more features to the web page like map, contact, social icon, link, and survey questions etc.

In the final sessions, students got the chance to interact with the conductor through questions and expressed their thoughts. The questions prove that they have been very much influenced through our conductor’s words and experiences.
