With the aim for ‘More Power to the Future’, WIE AG, IEEE BDS has celebrated “IEEE PES DAY 2018” with 2 day long excellent events along with IEEE UAP Student Branch, IEEE University of Dhaka Student Branch and IEEE WIE AG University of Dhaka. In April 22, 2008, the Power Engineering Society changed its name to the Power & Energy Society so that the Power & Energy Society name would be more appropriate and attractive to all participants in the industry involved in electric energy field. This year we have celebrated 10 years of name changing for the “Power and Energy Society”.

In the event at IEEE UAP SB on 28 April, Dr.Celia Shahnaz, Professor, Department of EEE, BUET, Nafisa Zarrin Tasnim, Assistant Engineer of Energypac Engineering Ltd, Tasnuva Binte Anowar, Assistant Engineer of Design circle, DPDC, Shoile Chakma, Lecturer of BUET and Purnata Roy, Assistant Engineer of DESCO were present and shared their experience in academia and power sectors.

On 30 April 2018 at the Institute of Energy (IE), University of Dhaka after the inauguration of event by the Director of IE Dr. Saiful Haque, a presentation on PES DAY overview was presented by PES DAY Ambassador Tasnim Kamal. Afterwards, a talk on "Career opportunities in Bangladesh Power Sector" was presented by Mizanur R. Sarkar, Executive Engineer of Power Grid Company of Bangladesh.
Energy Park Visit in the Institute of Energy, University of Dhaka
Later on a visit to Energy Park was arranged for the participants. There participants were shown solar power vehicle, solar panels, 3 Phase circuit design for solar panel, wind mill and some other interesting projects designed by Institute of Energy, University of Dhaka. At both events a short quiz contest was held and winners were gifted exciting prizes. Events ended with the celebration of cake cutting ceremony and a group photo session.
