“INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY CELEBRATION 2018” ORGANIZED BY IEEE SUB SB AND WIE AG, IEEE BDS

IEEE Stamford University Student Branch and WIE Affinity Group, IEEE Bangladesh Section jointly organized celebration of International Women’s Day 2018 on Friday, 16th March, 2018 from 10:00 am at Stamford University auditorium (Siddeswari Campus). 70 participants joined the occasion.

The opening speech was delivered by Professor Emeritus Dr. Feroze Ahmed, Prof. Dr. Enamul Bashar and Muhammad Wahidullah. They focused on the contribution of women in their life on the occasion of Women’s Day. Then Dr. Dilshan Mahjabeen, Associate Professor, Dept. of EEE, Stamford University Bangladesh & Branch Counselor, IEEE Stamford University Student Branch presented biography of glorious women of our country who played significant role in our education sector.

After that Dr. Celia Shahnaz, Professor, Dept. of EEE, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology & Chair of IEEE Bangladesh Section discussed about new initiatives for WIE Bangladesh region and globe. She also encouraged the participants on working as a group with women. Later Anamika Bhakta, Vice President of Robi Axiata Ltd. and Chair of WIE AG, IEEE BDS Ex-Com (2018) presented WIE AG, IEEE BDS journey since its inception along with 2017 activities conducted by WIE Affinity Group, IEEE Bangladesh Section.


On the next segments of Women’s Day Celebration, two invited speakers shared their experiences. Nurun Nahar Dora, Deputy General Manager of Radio Planning, Grameen Phone Ltd. shared her corporate experience and the key attributes required to be a leader. Kaniz Fatema, Head of Data, Device and Digital Marketing, Grameen Phone Ltd. emphasized on the importance and opportunities of women to be more engaged in ICT sector.
