Hand's on session on Thesis Writing Tool

On 22nd July 2017, IEEE EWU Student Branch and WIE AG IEEE BDS jointly organized a workshop on “LATEX”. It was a 3 hour long workshop that took place in the ICS practice lab no. 530 of East West University.The workshop was conducted by Nafisa Zarrin Tasnim, Assistant Engineer, Energypac Engineering Ltd, professional activities co-ordinator, WIE,IEEE BDS and Syeda Iffat Naz ,Assistant engineer, Energypac Engineering Ltd, webmaster, WIE, IEEE BDS.

A total of 38 students participated in the workshop where they have learnt about the basics of Latex. The number of IEEE and non-IEEE member in the workshop was 22 and 16 respectively and participation of female in the workshop was above 35%. There were some participants from different institution too.

At first, the conductors briefed us about the software MIKTEX. They also showed us how to install missing packages which is common problem for the software. In the first half, Ms. Syeda Iffat Naz instructed us how to write code on Miktex and Ms. Nafisa Zarrin Tasnim assisted her by helping participants if they faced any problem. In the second half, they changed their role.

In the final sessions, students got the chance to interact with the conductor through questions and expressed their thoughts. The questions prove that they have been very much influenced through our conductor’s words and experiences.
