A workshop on LATEX has been jointly organized by Women In Engineering Affinity Group, IEEE BUBT Student Branch and Women in Engineering Affinity Group, IEEE Bangladesh Section on April 27, 2017 at the VLSI Lab of Bangladesh University of Business and Technology. 25 students including 20 IEEE members participated at the workshop.

The workshop was conducted by Md. Abu Jahid, Asst. Professor, Bangladesh University of Business and Technology with the assistance of Farhana Afrin (Student Activities Coordinator, WIE AG, IEEE Bangladesh Section). Engr. M. Azharul Haque, Chairman, Department of EEE, BUBT inaugurated the event. Then a short presentation on LATEX was presented by the instructor. The key points of using LaTeX were discussed in the presentation. Then an example containing most of the basic rules of the software was demonstrated by the instructor and the participants could follow him. An assignment was given soon after the demonstration. Most of the students could do it by themselves. There were 5 student volunteers to help them who are expert in this field. At the end some more additional techniques of LaTeX was demonstrated by the instructor so that the participants can explore the software more in future.

At the end of workshop, Farhana Afrin, Lecturer , Department of EEE, BUBT delivered a short speech on WIE, IEEE BDS and its activities. The goal of the workshop was to get the participants familiar with the tool, and teach them how to write a complete technical paper using LATEX.. The participants enjoyed the full workshop. Engr. M. Azharul Haque, Chairman, Department of EEE, BUBT expressed his gratitude to the instructor with a token of appreciation. Participants were provided certificates at the end of the workshop for their participation.
