Work! Job! Career! – These are something everyone dreads and worries sometimes from halfway to end of university life. Keeping that in mind, Department of EEE, BUET in collaboration with BUET IEEE Student Branch, BUET WIE Student Branch Affinity group, WIE AG IEEE BDS organized a “Career Expo” on the occasion of EEE Day 2016 in BUET on 1st December, 2016. It was mainly a technical talk that lasted for 2.5 hours from 11:30 to 2:00 pm that covered discussion about career opportunities for Electrical Engineers featuring distinguished guests from various industries.
The talk was aimed to enlighten and embolden soon to be engineering graduates stepping into their professional lives. Around 66 students joined this talk- among them 30 were IEEE members. At first, Nabila Kawser, R&RS coordinator ,Manufacturing, Supply Chain at British American Tobacco, Bangladesh shared her versatile experience of choosing right way to career. After that, the second speaker Mr. Zaved Parvez - the Vice President and the Head of Integrated Planning of Finance Division at Robi Axiata Limited gave a motivational speech on quest of true happiness in life based on his exuberant professional experience.
Ms. Tanzim Faruque Aditi , Co-founder and Director of AUS-BANGLA Communications Limited briefed about importance of having fluency in English language to delicate with international clients on the way of her entrepreneur career. Then, Dr. Reduan Hasan Khan- Deputy General Manager at Grameenphone & founder at AUS-Bangla Communications Limited emphasized on making concise résumé for job application and taking preparation for some common but significant questions for interview. And last but not the least, Ms. Pramiti Alam from Energypac Engineering Limited spoke highly about her personal preference- exposure of candidate’s honesty- in both CV and job interview.
This event came out as very successful one as both the speakers and participants were enthusiastic and dedicated with their individual contribution and spontaneity. Mohammad Abdullah Al Sohel, Lecturer, Dept. of EEE, BUET took the lead of the event where Mrs. Kazi Khurshidi Haque Dia, Sectretary, WIE AG, IEEE BD Section, Mrs. Anamika Bhakta, Treasurer, WIE Affinity Group, IEEE BDS and Ms. Shoilie Chakma, Lecturer, BUET stretched out continuous co-operation and supervision .Dr. Celia Shahnaz , Professor, Department of EEE, BUET and IEEE R10 WIE coordinator moderated the whole event.
