Inauguration Ceremony of Five WIE SB in IEEE Bangladesh Section & Launching of All Bangladesh IE

On 27th October 2016, WIE AG, IEEE BD Section and AIUB WIE SB jointly organized “Inauguration Ceremony of 5 new WIE SB in IEEE Bangladesh Section & Launching of All Bangladesh IEEE WIE SB AG Network” at the Auditorium of Faculty of Business Administration Building, AIUB. The day-long event hosted around 100 participants and consisted of multiple sessions that took place from 11:00 am to 5:00pm.

The event was initiated with the opening speech from Professor Dr. A.B.M Siddique Hossain, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB. Following this were welcoming speeches delivered by Dr. M. Tanseer Ali, Counselor of IEEE AIUB Student Branch; Assistant Professor, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB and Tasnuva Tasneem, WIE Advisor IEEE AIUB Student Branch; Lecturer, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB, respectively. Later, a cake cutting ceremony took place where the cake was cut by the WIE delegates and the faculty members, to officially inaugurate the event, which was then distributed amongst the attendees.

Following that, the WIE Affinity group of Stamford University Bangladesh, Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology, North South University, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology and American International University Bangladesh took the stage respectively, where representatives from each of the universities gave a presentation on their Affinity Group and its future prospects. This was followed by a group photo session.

The next segment started with a presentation from Ms. Samatha Lubaba Noor, Chair, WIE IEEE Bangladesh Section, in which she talked about the WIE events that took place at other branches this year. Later, certificates were presented to the Advisors of the branches. Up next, the stage was taken by Dr. Celia Shanaz, Advisor; Former chair of WIE AG, IEEE BDS and IEEE R10 WIE Coordinator, who gave a presentation on WIE’s past and present state in Bangladesh. She also spent time during her presentation motivating the WIE branches in being more active in the future. Following her, Chowdhury Akram Hossain, Student Activity Coordinator, IEEE Bangladesh Section; Advisor of IEEE AIUB Student Branch; Assistant Professor, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB, took the stage where he delivered a presentation on SAC. There he talked about SAC’s activities and the benefits it provides. After these, a small video was shown to the attendees on inauguration program of WIE.

Finally, the event was concluded by handing a crest to Dr. Celia Shanaz by Dr. M. Tanseer Ali, on behalf of Professor Dr. Shaikh Anowarul Fattah, Chair, IEEE Bangladesh Section. The event was graced with the presence of Professor Dr. A.B.M Siddique Hossain, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB, Dr. M. Tanseer Ali, Counselor of IEEE AIUB Student Branch; Assistant Professor, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB, Tasnuva Tasneem, WIE Advisor IEEE AIUB Student Branch; Lecturer, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB, Ms. Samatha Lubaba Noor, Chair, WIE IEEE Bangladesh Section, Dr. Celia Shanaz, Advisor; Former chair of WIE AG and IEEE R10 WIE Coordinator and Chowdhury Akram Hossain, Student Activity Coordinator, IEEE Bangladesh Section; Advisor of IEEE AIUB Student Branch; Assistant Professor, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB.
