On October 13, 2016, WIE Affinity Group, IEEE BUET Student Branch in association with WIE Affinity Group, IEEE Bangladesh Section and IEEE Bangladesh Section, organized an industrial visit to Energypac Engineering Ltd., Savar. This visit was a part of the celebration of IEEE Day
2016. With a total number of 21 participants, the tour was accompanied by Ms. Shoilie Chakma, Lecturer, Department of EEE, BUET.
With an aim to go beyond academics, such industrial tours gave the students firsthand information regarding functioning and real working environment of industry. Along with that, it provided an opportunity to plan, organize and engage in activelearning experiences both inside andoutside the classroom. Moreover, it helped them see their future place in the working world by giving themexposure to current work practices.
The participants were first briefed about the various products like power transformer, distribution transformer, instrument transformer, switchgear and control panels, vacuum circuit breakers etc. manufactured at Energypac. They were later escorted to the manufacturing plants and testing labs. These provided the students an opportunity to learn practically through interaction about working methods and employment in Energypac.
The visit was concluded with lunch and question and answer session. The participants found the visit very informative and interesting. Overall, it proved to be a successful one, supervised by Dr. Celia Shahnaz, Professor, Department of EEE, BUET and Counselor, WIE Affinity Group, IEEE BUET Student Branch and acknowledged by Ms. Samantha Lubaba Noor, Chair, WIE Affinity Group, IEEE Bangladesh Section and Ms. Anamika Bhakta, Treasurer, WIE Affinity Group, IEEE Bangladesh Section.
