WIE BD celebrates International Women's Day
International Women's Day is celebrated worldwide every year on the eight day of March. To celebrate womanhood, Women in Engineering (WIE) affinity group, IEEE Bangladesh Section celebrated International Women’s Day at the Conference room of IICT, BUET on 19 March, 2016.

The event was focused on Talks by two prominent speakers who are successfully leading in academia and corporate sector.
The first speaker- Professor Dr. Shahida Rafique, President, OWSD NC Bangladesh, discussed and exhibited “The Current Statistics of Women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics)”. Different points have been highlighted regarding the participation and contribution of women in our country in this sector. After the talk she shared the stories behind her professional success with the audiences.
Later, Anamika Bhakta serving as the Vice President, Technical Regulations, Regulatory affairs, Robi Axiata Ltd. presented the 2nd talk on “Effective Communication Skill”. In a very efficient and précised way she hashed out an important skill necessary for everyone to conduct their regular task.
The event was moderated by Dr. Celia Shahnaz, 2016 IEEE R10 WIE Coordinator; Advisor and Past Chair, WIE Affinity Group, IEEE Bangladesh Section. Besides current executive committee members of WIE, IEEE Bangladesh section were present at the event.
15 IEEE members and 5 non IEEE members actively attended the event.
A cake cutting ceremony was followed by the talks to mark up the end of this celebration.
