3rd Workshop on Introduction to MATLAB

The third workshop on Introduction to MATLAB was organized by WIE Affinity Group, EEE Bangladesh Section in collaboration with IEEE student branch of BRAC University. The technical event took place on July 09, 2015 at computer lab of BRAC University.

The three hour long workshop was divided into two sections. At first, it was conducted by Ms. Kazi Khurshida Haque, Lecturer, Ahsanullah University of Science & Technology. She started with basic introduction of the software: how to perform basic mathematical operations in MATLAB, how to plot graphs or how to use built in functions. Gradually she explained how to solve a problem in MATLAB by understanding the logic, how to use an user defined function. She also shared first-hand knowledge about how to design and simulate a calculator using the Graphical User Interface (GUI) option of MATLAB. Samantha Lubaba Noor, Secretary, WIE Affinity Group, IEEE BD section, inaugurated the workshop.

Later Mohasinina Binte Kamal, Assistant Engineer, Energypac Engineering Ltd. carried on the workshop. She explained the application of MATLAB in signal processing, image processing frequency domain analysis of a signal.

In the end, Ms. Lubaba Noor handed over crests to the workshop conductors to appreciate their flawless instructions and efforts.

Approximately 55 undergraduate students of BRAC University both male and female attended the workshop. Ms. Amina Hasan Abedin, Assistant Professor of EEE Department, was also present during the workshop. The students enthusiastically learnt how to use the software. It is expected that the workshop will be of great use to the participants in their course works as well as in their research works.
