Workshop on Circuit Simulation using SPICE

Organiser: WIE Affinity Group, IEEE BD Section

Venue: Robert Noyce Simulation Lab, Department of EEE, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET)

Date: 09/05/2015

WIE Affinity group and IEEE Bangladesh Section jointly organized a “Workshop on Circuit Simulation Using Spice” at Robert Noyce Simulation Lab, Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) on May 09, 2015. About 50 students participated in the workshop among whom 30 were IEEE members and 20 were non-IEEE members. The participants were from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology and Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology.

The workshop was inaugurated with the speech of Dr. Celia Shahnaz, Professor, Department of EEE, BUET and Chair, WIE affinity group, IEEE Bangladesh Section. In the inaugurating speech Dr. Shahnaz introduced the motivational and inspirational facts of WIE and IEEE. She also mentioned a few of the remarkable achievements of WIE BD to the participants.

The workshop was divided into two parts – one was schematics part and another was netlists part. The schematic part was conducted by Dhara Islam Mallick, BUET alumni and Executive Committee member of WIE affinity group. In this part, the basic electrical circuits and their analysis using schematic diagrams were discussed in detail. Some sample schematics were provided to all the participants for their easy understanding.

The netlist part was conducted by Farhana Parveen, Lecturer, Stamford University Bangladesh, BUET alumni and Executive Committee member of WIE affinity group. In this part, all the circuits shown in schematic part were translated to netlist and corresponding analysis techniques using netlist were shown. Prior samples were provided to all the participants for their convenience.
