History of

WIE Bangladesh Section

2011 is the first full calendar year for women in Engineering (WIE) Affinity Group, IEEE Bangladesh Section.
At the end of 2012, the number of female IEEE student members was above 80.
At the end of 2014, the number of female IEEE member was around 56, graduate female IEEE member was 14, the undergraduate female IEEE student member was higher in number than in 2013.
Due to the massive campaigning from the WIE affinity group, IEEE Bangladesh Section, most of the existing female student members of IEEE responded to our call and actively participated in the WIE activities in 2014 and 2015. Their huge interest and participation in the WIE activities clearly indicate that we have achieved an expected growth of the WIE affinity Group’s membership. In 2015 WIE AG, IEEE Bangladesh Section had 6 members, 25 graduate members and 191 student members. In 2016, WIE, IEEE BDS received 'IEEE R10 WIE Section Affinity Group Award' for the outstanding contribution of the AG in 2015. In 2016 the AG had organized a total of 28 events including technical, professional, entrepreneurship development and humanitarian events. By the end of 2016, WIE AG, IEEE BDS had 10 Student Branches. Throughout the country there are currently 760 WIE members with 75 professional members.
